Zinal 2017 - The 44th International Yoga Congress

August 20-25, 2017

Theme

ATHA – Yoga is Now

Here, now, is the teaching of yoga.

1.1. atha-yoga-anuśāsanam

The very opening aphorism of the Yoga Sutras by Patañjali presents a challenge. It could simply be a statement placed at the beginning of an exposition of yoga. However it is much more instructive to see init an invitation to practice yoga always and everywhere.
Yoga does not require sitting on a cushion in meditation and it is not limited to a specified hour or a particular posture. Each moment is the right moment and the present moment is the best one. Each place is the right one – the place where I now am can be a sacred space.
«Reality and genuineness can only be experienced now and here».
In this sense, the 44th International Yoga Congress in Zinal invites us to prana-filled Val d’Anniviers, crowned by five of the highest and mightiest mountains of Europe, to plunge into, reflect on and celebrate together the maxime of yoga.
